New Homeowner Series: Air Filters

After we got refrigerator filter figured out, it was on to the next thing: find out where our air filter is and change it!

One thing you need to know about my husband and me is that we both have horrible allergies. Plus, we also have a 90-pound golden who sheds like crazy. Because of these things, we knew that we had to find a filter that met our filtration priorities: an air filter that reduces common allergens and pet dander.

We decided to go with the MERV 13 filter because it met each one of our priorities. MERV 13 air filters effectively reduce the following airborne contaminants:

  • Pollen
  • Dust
  • Pet dander
  • Mold spores
  • Dust mites
  • Allergens

Luckily for us, we didn’t have to search long for where our air filter return was located, because it’s one of the first things you see when you walk into our living room. We pulled out the old filter that the last owners had left and were able to easily find the size of the air filter that we needed. made it incredibly easy to order the filter that I needed because they have 3 of the most common MERVs and have tons of sizes and air filter brands to choose from. They carry every popular Filtrete, Carrier and Bryant air filter that you can think of. The list of air filter brands they carry is quite impressive! I wasn’t worried about finding my filter size because they carry so many, but in searching the website, I also found out that they can make custom sized air filters too!

I was amazed out how budget-friendly the brand filters were. Packaged in a convenient 6-pack, I was happy to see that they were only $9.66 apiece. I’ll be honest, I’m a “buy it in the store kind of gal”, but when I went down the aisle at my local grocery store, I was astonished at how expensive a single air filter was. I am so glad that I found!

Besides being the best place to buy your air filters, they also have a subscription option too! It’s so hard to remember what size air filter you need and how often you need to order them, so I was more than happy to sign up for the Home Filter Club for my air filters. We have to change our filter every 2 months because of the astronomical amounts of dog hair that our puppy child produces, so I signed up for the ‘every 12-month’ option for the subscription. Now, I just put a reminder in my phone to change our filter every 2 months and have the peace-of-mind knowing that as soon as I run out, a new 6-pack will arrive at my door.
