The Importance of Changing Your Pool Filter

By July 30, 2020November 29th, 2020No Comments
Ever look at a swimming pool and wonder how they keep the water free from dirt and debris? Well, a major part of that is the pool filter. The pool filter is a critical part of your pool’s overall operation. Without the pool filter, not only will debris and dirt make its way into the pool, but it will remain in the pool. This can increase the potential for algae growth in the water, and lead to potential illnesses. These are just a few of the many reasons why changing your pool filter is so important.
How often should I change my pool filter?
How often you clean or replace your pool filter will depend on the type of filter you have and the overall condition of the filter itself.
Pool filter change frequency based on type of filter:
  • A sand filter should be replaced every 3-6 years.
  • A DE (Diatomaceous Earth) Filter should be cleaned every 4-8 weeks.
  • A cartridge filter should be replaced seasonally.
Did you know? If you, your family, or pool guests enter the pool with suntan lotion or haircare products on it can shorten the life of your pool filter.
